Owia Salt Pond
13° 22.6′ N · 61° 8.4′ W
A natural rock pool of warm sea water cut off by dark volcanic rock beside a black-sand beach in Owia, a Kalinago community on the north-east coast.
Practical
Position from OpenStreetMap. SVG Tourism describes it as a natural pool where you can enjoy the warm Atlantic water without the choppy waves, reached by a drive along the dramatic east (windward) coast. A land tour from Kingstown or the south-coast anchorages, not a yacht stop: the windward coast is open Atlantic. National Parks authority: an ocean-fed bathing pool among volcanic rock at the northern tip of the windward side, with a garden park above (gazebos, food and drink, play area) reached by about 217 steps. Entry for non-nationals US$5 (undated; verify locally); 32 miles, about 1.5 hours, from Kingstown.
Best for
