Richmond Beach
13° 18.8′ N · 61° 14.0′ W
A remote black-sand beach at the end of the leeward-coast road north of Chateaubelair, close under La Soufrière and the start of the walk on toward the roadless north.
Practical
Position is the centroid of the OpenStreetMap 'Richmond Beach' polygon; Wallibou Beach is mapped just north of it. There is no sheltered anchorage here: visit by road from Chateaubelair or Cumberland, or by dinghy from Chateaubelair only in flat calm. This shore lies inside the La Soufrière hazard zone; check the volcano advisory (see La Soufrière Volcanic Hazard) before going, and avoid the river valleys during heavy rain. No facilities are mapped; bring water.
Best for
A wild, empty beach on the road toward the volcano
Season
Dry season (Jan-May); avoid after heavy rain
