King Mitch Wreck
11° 54.1′ N · 61° 44.6′ W
The King Mitch is a converted minesweeper, about 150–200 ft long, that sank in 1981 and lies on her side in sand far off the south coast. Blue water, strong current, sharks, eagle rays and schooling barracuda make her one of Grenada's big-animal wreck dives.
Practical
Position is the WikiBubbles dive-directory mark, about 6 nm south of Prickly Point; operators use their own marks. Distance off is given differently by sources: about 4 miles off the southern Atlantic coast (Bradt) or about 8 miles off the Atlantic coast (Eco Dive). Depth 90–110 ft (28–33 m) per Eco Dive; WikiBubbles has the shallowest point near 30 m and 38 m maximum. Advanced only: exposed, strong current and often rough on the run out. Sources disagree on which side she lies on (port per Bradt, starboard per WikiBubbles). Dived only from operator boats on calm days.
