Prickly Bay Customs and Immigration

11° 59.9′ N · 61° 45.6′ W · approximate

Prickly Bay was for years the south coast's customs and immigration office. Current official guidance limits Prickly Bay to clearing OUT, via Spice Island Marina; for clearing IN, go to Port Louis in St George's.

Practical

Position is approximate, at Prickly Bay Marina (OpenStreetMap). The Grenada Tourism Authority (sailing page) says vessels must clear IN at Port Louis Marina in St George's or at Tyrrel Bay in Carriacou. Departing vessels can clear out at Spice Island Marina in Prickly Bay, at Le Phare Bleu or at Grenville. Older sources describe customs, immigration and health officers at Prickly Bay Marina seven days a week (GTA marina page). Noforeignland reviewers say the office is operational, takes EC dollars only, and fines boats that miss check-in hours. Several 2022–2024 Noonsite comments say clearing IN on the south coast was not possible. Confirm the office location and what it handles on the 7:30 am cruisers' net (VHF 66) before you go. Hours at marine bases: Monday to Friday 8 am–4 pm, weekends and holidays 9 am–2 pm, with overtime outside them. In 2017 the weekend overtime fee at Prickly Bay was EC$40 (verify locally). Pay in EC dollars. Noonsite reports the extension-of-stay fee as EC$75 per person per month since 2019.
