Cruiser Shopping Buses (South Coast)

12° 0.0′ N · 61° 45.8′ W · approximate

Grenada's south-coast cruising community runs on shopping buses: drivers collect from the dinghy docks on fixed days for supermarket, chandlery and market runs, and the Budget Marine Saturday bus is free.

Practical

Position is a nominal point in Prickly Bay; buses collect from several bays. Days and routes change by season and are announced on the cruisers' net (VHF 66 international, 7:30 am Monday–Saturday). Budget Marine announced a free Saturday bus from Whisper Cove Marina, picking up at Nimrod's and Clarkes Court, stopping at Budget Marine and ACE Hardware (Budget Marine, 2016; its store page still describes a free weekly shuttle leaving Whisper Cove at 9:30 am). Secret Harbour Marina runs a free bus two days a week to Island Water World, and paid shopping buses ran several days a week for EC$15–25 (Noonsite, 2017; verify locally). Public minibuses cost about EC$2.50 to St George's (Noonsite, 2017): catch them on the main road a short walk from the Budget Marine dock in Prickly Bay, or take the No. 2 bus from near the Woburn dock (CCBM).
