Buccament Beach
13° 11.5′ N · 61° 16.0′ W
A long black-sand beach at the mouth of the Buccament Valley, below the old Buccament Bay resort, and the landing for taxis up to the Vermont Nature Trail.
Practical
Position is a shoreline node of the OpenStreetMap 'Buccament Beach' polygon. The river mouth is at the north end of the beach, and noforeignland reviewers report poor holding near it and better holding in deeper water; anchor off the south half. Swell and wind shifts can make landing a dinghy awkward, so pick a calm spot and lift the dinghy well up the beach. A clinic and a supermarket are in Buccament village (see Buccament Bay Anchorage).
Best for
A black-sand beach walk and the jumping-off point for the parrot trail
Season
Exposed to winter north-west swell
