Mount Wynne Beach

13° 13.0′ N · 61° 16.5′ W

One of the best black-sand beaches on St Vincent, a two-part national-park beach between Layou and Barrouallie that is a favourite picnic stop and a lunch stop for Falls of Baleine boat trips.

Practical

Position is the centroid of the OpenStreetMap beach polygon at Mount Wynne. The National Parks authority says the beach occupies two adjacent sites about 11 miles from Kingstown (30 minutes by road), with gazebos and washrooms, open 9am to 5pm; non-nationals pay US$5 (National Parks site, undated; verify locally). It is co-managed by the Barrouallie Tourism and Heritage Organisation. Noforeignland reviewers describe the anchorage off it as peaceful, in sand, with good snorkelling. Noonsite warns of strong currents and undertow for swimmers off Mount Wynne. A P&O catamaran excursion also stops here, so expect day-trip boats on cruise-ship days. The second of the two sites is the neighbouring bay to the north; check the local name ashore.
