Soldier Bay (Norman Island)
18° 19.4′ N · 64° 36.5′ W · approximate
A secluded bay on Norman Island's north shore, past Kelly's Cove towards Water Point, with healthy elkhorn coral, small caves, turtles and rays.
Practical
Approximate position: Yacht Warriors (2024) places Soldier Bay behind Kelly's Cove and around the corner from Water Point; the point is in the north-shore bay west of the island's northernmost headland, from the OpenStreetMap coastline. Verify locally. Yacht Warriors: 5 mooring balls; use them to protect the coral, and if you must anchor choose sand patches. Calm in summer; less protected in winter when the wind or swell is from the north. Noonsite (2018) also lists moorings here. Dinghy to the Bight for Pirates Bight.
Best for
Snorkelling off the boat in a quiet north-shore bay
Season
Best in summer; avoid in northerly winter swell
