Seabird Nesting Season (Tobagos and northern cays)
18° 26.7′ N · 64° 49.5′ W · approximate
Winter into early summer is nesting time for red-billed tropicbirds on the Tobagos' cliffs, while frigatebirds nest in seaside trees on Great Tobago and terns, boobies and pelicans use Diamond Cay, Green Cay and Sandy Cay.
Practical
JVD Scuba: tropicbirds return to nest from December until June on rocky cliffs; Great Tobago holds the BVI's only frigatebird nesting site (NPT). Roseate terns on Green Cay alternate nesting sites and only return to undisturbed places (NPT), so stay off the cays' bird areas, keep noise down, and never fly drones over colonies. The Tobagos are a no-entry bird sanctuary year-round. Coordinate is Great Tobago (approximate placeholder).
