Snorkel· Guana Island· Virgin Islands (BVI, USVI and Spanish Virgins)
Monkey Point (Guana Island)
18° 28.0′ N · 64° 34.4′ W · approximate
A rocky point at Guana's southern tip with small caves, schools of baitfish and, often, mackerel and large tarpon feeding through them.
Practical
Position approximate: the southern tip of Guana Island, derived from the Wikipedia island position. 30 ft snorkel site (Dive BVI), not recommended in high season because of heavy boat traffic but interesting in summer. Yacht Warriors says it was a favourite before the 2017 hurricanes but has not fully recovered. Snorkel from the dinghy; keep a lookout for day-charter boats. Guana's beaches above the water are private.
Best for
Summer snorkel with tarpon
Season
Best May–Oct; crowded in high season
