Lovango Cay
18° 21.6′ N · 64° 48.3′ W · approximate
A 118-acre private cay a mile northwest of St John, home of Lovango Resort & Beach Club, which rents moorings with tender service to visiting yachts.
Practical
Position is approximate: in the water just south of the resort position the resort publishes (18.3625 N, 64.8037 W), on the south side of the cay where Lovango's docks and Beach Club are; checked against OpenStreetMap to be in the water. Hail Lovango on VHF 71. The resort offers moorings with daytime tender service for boats up to 65 ft and a large anchorage area for boats over 65 ft; reserve a mooring via its website; overnight moorings are offered with sunset dinner at the Waterfront Restaurant (2026 website). Coast Pilot 5: several houses and two private piers in the bight on the south shore between Murder Rock and the southwest point; Blunder Rocks (8 ft high) lie 250 yards east; the shoal passage to Mingo Cay has strong tidal current in its 13-ft boat channel. The south side is a popular charter-boat snorkel spot (Wikipedia). Lovango is outside the national park's mooring system: its moorings are private, so respect the resort's rules.
