Lind Point Designated Anchorage
18° 20.5′ N · 64° 48.0′ W
One of only two places in Virgin Islands National Park where you may drop an anchor: a marked 'box' off Lind Point just north of Cruz Bay, a short dinghy ride from town.
Practical
Position is the center of the anchorage box defined in the 2026 Superintendent's Compendium (corners 18°20'23"N to 18°20'34"N, 64°47'48"W to 64°48'08"W). Who may anchor: vessels up to 125 ft LOA; boats 60 ft and under may anchor here only when the Caneel Bay moorings suited to their size are all taken; stationary positioning (dynamic positioning) allowed for vessels up to 125 ft. Anchor only in sand, with no part of anchor or chain on coral ('look below before you throw'). Overnight fee applies (US$26/night, 5 pm to 7 am; verify locally) and the 7-night-per-bay / 30-night-per-year limits. Anchoring here or using park moorings is prohibited when tropical-storm winds are forecast. Exposed to wakes from Pillsbury Sound traffic.
