Fiestas Patronales de Santiago Apóstol (Fajardo)

18° 19.8′ N · 65° 39.0′ W

Fajardo's July patron saint festival for Saint James the Apostle fills the central plaza by the cathedral with salsa and merengue headliners, rides, crafts and food stalls.

Practical

Position is Fajardo barrio-pueblo (Wikipedia), the town center where the plaza and the Catedral Santiago Apóstol stand; Wikipedia says the fiestas patronales are held in the central plaza each year. Wikipedia: celebrated in July, with parades, games, artisans, amusement rides, regional food and live entertainment; past performers include Tito Nieves, Johnny Ventura and Sonora Ponceña. Other Fajardo events (Wikipedia): Bicicletada Fajardeña and a kite festival in April, the Kelly Cup Sailboat Regatta in April, a Bomba & Plena festival in May, Paradise Fiesta in August and the Cocolía Festival in November. Dates and the Kelly Cup's host venue are not given: verify with the municipality and the marinas. Expect heavier traffic and fuller marinas and ferries on festival weekends.

Best for

Planning a Fajardo layover around a local fiesta

Season

July (patron saint); April for the Kelly Cup regatta
