Ensenada Honda dinghy landings (Dewey)

18° 18.2′ N · 65° 17.9′ W · approximate

The cluster of places to tie the dinghy at the head of Ensenada Honda: the free Town Dock, the Dinghy Dock restaurant's own landing, and the canal under the old lift bridge that leads through to Bahía de Sardinas and the ferry side of town.

Practical

Position approximate: in the water just off the Town Dock (OpenStreetMap node 3403015400) and the Dinghy Dock restaurant (node 3403050544), checked against OpenStreetMap coastline. Options: (1) Town Dock: free, the standard landing and CBP reporting point (Virgintino guide, about 2015; CBP). (2) Dinghy Dock restaurant: its own dock beside the canal bridge, for customers (Wikivoyage). (3) The canal under the non-lifting bridge: dinghies only, keelboats cannot pass (Virgintino); a Noonsite report (January 2019) says diesel is sold at the Total station under the bridge, reachable by dinghy with jerry cans, cash only; check headroom at high tide. (4) Elsewhere on the bay: the Virgintino guide says there are docks for dinghies all around the bay; a Noonsite report (January 2024) was allowed to use the private Hostal Casa Culebra dock (ask first) for the nearby La Surana laundromat, and says you may land at docks on the north shore of Ensenada del Coronel if visiting D's Garden. Security: a Noonsite/CSSN report (December 2018) records a fuel line stolen from an unlocked dinghy at the town dock: lock the dinghy and the outboard.
