Dewey canal and lift bridge

18° 18.1′ N · 65° 18.0′ W

The narrow canal through Dewey that joins Bahía de Sardinas to Ensenada Honda, crossed by a painted lift bridge that no longer lifts: dinghies pass under it, keelboats cannot.

Practical

Position: OpenStreetMap 'Puente de Culebra' (way 1135962106). The Virgintino guide (about 2015): the bridge no longer functions but has been repainted; a small restaurant on the inside of the canal is good for people- and boat-watching; you cannot enter Ensenada Honda via the lagoon/canal with a yacht: go round to the southern entrance. Check dinghy headroom at high tide (range under a foot, NOAA Culebra station).
