BVI Spring Regatta racing in the southern chain

18° 22.0′ N · 64° 35.1′ W · approximate

During the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival, run out of Nanny Cay, race fleets round the islands of the southern chain, from Pelican and the Indians to Norman, Peter, Dead Chest, Salt, Cooper and Ginger.

Practical

Approximate position: in the Sir Francis Drake Channel north of Peter Island, between the course marks; not a race mark itself. 2027 dates (regatta website): registration Monday March 29, Sailing Festival races March 30 and 31, lay day April 1, BVI Spring Regatta races April 2 to 4, based at Nanny Cay Resort & Marina, Tortola. The 2026 course card names these southern-chain islands as rounding marks: 7 Pelican (including the Indians and the mooring buoys), 8 Norman Island, 9 Peter Island and Carrot Rock, 10 Dead Chest and outlying rocks, 11 Salt Island and all mooring buoys off Lee Bay and the Rhone, 12 Cooper Island and all mooring buoys off Cooper Island Beach Club, 13 Ginger Island. Expect racing traffic close to the Indians, Rhone and Cooper moorings on race days: keep clear of racing boats and expect the moorings to fill early. See the Nanny Cay entry in the Tortola file for the shoreside programme.
