Peter Island 5 Mile Loop Hike & Sunset Loop
18° 21.5′ N · 64° 34.5′ W · approximate
Peter Island Resort's self-guided 5-mile loop climbs steeply from the resort to Sunset Loop at the island's crest, with lookout points over the Drake Channel and the southern chain.
Practical
Approximate position: the resort roads behind the Sprat Bay marina (OpenStreetMap service roads); the route follows the island's paved and gravel roads, whose summit point was not verified. Resort Excursions page (2026): 5-mile loop, paved and gravel throughout, winding steeply up to Sunset Loop with incremental lookouts and water stations along the route; sturdy closed-toe shoes recommended. The resort also runs a Sunset Loop tour daily at 5 pm (October to March) or 5:30 pm (April to September), booked with the Front Desk, with snacks and drinks to pre-order. Access for boaters is not stated: the resort says the Yacht Club Experience (an add-on to a mooring or included with overnight docking) gives sport courts, pool, beach shuttles and the Drunken Pelican, but does not mention trails. Ask the dockmaster (VHF 72, 284-393-9250) before setting out. Reviewers (2026) describe an informal path from Great Harbour to the resort.
