Thong Nai Pan Yai Anchorage

9° 46.3′ N · 100° 3.8′ E · approximate

The larger, southern Thong Nai Pan bay, quieter and cheaper ashore than Noi, and according to the SE Asia Pilot the better protected of the two.

Practical

Position approximate: placed about 300 m offshore of the Wikidata bay coordinate for Ao Thong Ta Pan Yai; the SE Asia Pilot's waypoint covers both bays (09°46.583N 100°03.597E). Pilot: anchor in 6–8 m on sand in front of the big tree on the beach; this southern bay is the most protected. East-facing: good in the SW monsoon and in calm weather, uncomfortable to dangerous in NE-monsoon swell. Ashore: Thai restaurants and beach bars, two minimarts (OpenStreetMap), and a temple, Wat Thong Nai Pan. A 15-minute walk over the headland to Noi.
