Bottle Beach (Haad Khuat) Anchorage

9° 47.8′ N · 100° 2.1′ E · approximate

A remote, jungle-backed half-moon bay on the north coast with no proper road, reached by longtail or a tough hike, and one of the most beautiful beaches in the Gulf on a calm day.

Practical

Position approximate: the Wikidata coordinate for the bight (Ao Hat Khuat), not a surveyed anchorage, and the SE Asia Pilot gives no depth or holding data, so sound in and anchor on sand. The bay faces north: a fair-weather and SW-monsoon stop, untenable in NE-monsoon swell (roughly Nov–Feb). Wikivoyage notes fish but no coral reefs in the bay itself. Ashore are a few resorts and two restaurants (Bottle Beach 1 and 2). Longtail taxi-boats run to Chaloklum; Wikivoyage gave a 2016 schedule from Bottle Beach 1 resort at 100 THB a person (verify locally). The SE Asia Pilot notes Had Khuat has resorts and good restaurants around the headland from Ao Mae Haad.

Best for

Day or overnight stop in calm or southerly weather

Season

Settled weather and SW monsoon (May–Oct); exposed to N and NE
