Than Sadet Royal Waterfall

9° 45.0′ N · 100° 4.2′ E

A chain of cascades and rock pools on the 'Royal River', visited by King Rama V fourteen times between 1888 and 1909. His initials are still carved in a rock near the estuary, alongside inscriptions from later kings.

Practical

Waterfall position from Wikidata (Nam Tok Than Sadet). Wikipedia: Rama V first visited in 1888 and returned as many as fourteen times over 21 years; the area is now Than Sadet–Ko Pha-ngan National Park (established 22 November 2018). The SE Asia Pilot says to follow the creek from the sea past engravings commemorating Rama V, Rama VI and Rama IX. Wikivoyage gives a park entry fee of 100 THB (20 THB for Thais), date unstated, verify locally, and warns there is little water in the dry season. Pools behind the beach are big enough to bathe in.
