Siam Bay (Bay 1) Dive and Snorkel, Racha Yai
7° 36.9′ N · 98° 22.4′ E · approximate
The most popular dive site on Racha Yai, at the north of the island, where most training dives happen: white sand and scattered hard coral at 12-18 m, with parrotfish, cuttlefish, Kuhl's stingrays and the odd turtle, and excellent macro on night dives.
Practical
Position approximate, near the north end of the island (OSM outline); no pilot coordinate. Phuket 101 says Racha Yai visibility averages 15-20 m and is often best in the SW monsoon, with most dive sites on the sheltered east coast in the monsoon and the north bays sheltered from the east wind in the dry season. Corals were bleached over the past decade and are recovering. Phuket 101 also names Patok and Lah bays for snorkelling.
