Koh Hae North Anchorage (Coral Island)
7° 44.9′ N · 98° 22.4′ E
Two sandy bays on the north coast of Coral Island, fringed with live coral, 15 minutes by speedboat from Chalong. Banana Beach is the busier bay, packed with tour groups and water sports; Long Beach is quieter, with shade trees and beach restaurants.
Practical
Anchor in 8-10 m on sand in the SW monsoon; coral heads rise from as deep as 6 m, so anchor only on clear sand (SEAP). Day-trip traffic crowds the bays from about 10am to 5pm; arrive early or stay late. Buoyed swim areas keep boats off the beaches. Cash only ashore. The crossing from Chalong is sheltered and works in most weather year-round. Best water colour and swimming at high tide; Long Beach is very shallow near shore at low tide (Phuket 101).
Best for
A short hop from Chalong for snorkelling and a beach lunch
Season
Year-round; anchor on sand in SW monsoon
