Satun River Anchorage and Government Jetty

6° 31.1′ N · 100° 5.6′ E

Thailand's southernmost west-coast port of entry: a buoyed channel leads up the Satun River to the concrete government jetty, with officials, workshops and supplies in a working fishing town.

Practical

Southeast Asia Pilot (Satun, 6°31.060N 100°5.561E): buoyed channel up the Satun River to the concrete government jetty; most yachts anchor at the channel entrance and go ashore by dinghy, leaving one crew aboard because river traffic is heavy. Ferries to Langkawi. A 2019 cruiser on Noonsite cleared in fine but ran aground in the river mud: the western shore shoals very gradually, so anchor mid-river despite local traffic; ferries do not go far upriver, so wake was not a problem. Supplies, ice and workshops in town; Hat Yai airport about an hour by road. Satun Hospital is in town.
