Loy Krathong in Satun
6° 36.9′ N · 100° 4.0′ E · approximate
Thailand's festival of lights on the November full moon, when people float candle-lit krathong offerings on rivers and the sea; in mostly Muslim Satun it is a smaller, Buddhist-community celebration.
Practical
Wikipedia: held on the evening of the full moon of the 12th Thai lunar month, usually in November (5 November 2025; 24 November 2026). People launch a krathong on a river, canal or pond and make a wish. Satun is 76.77% Muslim (Wikipedia, 2017), so expect modest local events; we could not verify a specific Satun venue, so the position is Satun town (OpenStreetMap). It falls at the start of the cruising season and near the Urak Lawoi boat festival on Lipe (see Loy Rua Boat Festival). Expect fireworks and krathong in the water near towns and piers that night: keep a lookout if moving by dinghy after dark.
