Samui Haul-out, Slipway and Chandlery (no yacht yard on the island)

9° 33.6′ N · 100° 3.4′ E · approximate

Koh Samui has no travel lift, yacht slipway or chandlery. Southeast Asia Pilot calls technical support for cruising boats limited, so any yacht that needs lifting has to go to a yard on the Andaman or eastern Gulf coast.

Practical

Position is the Petcharat jetty in Bangrak (OSM way 35554764), the usual place to arrange services; it marks no yard. Southeast Asia Pilot: technical support is still limited, with good workshops and hardware stores in Nathon (Samui) and in Surat Thani, Chumphon and Nakhon Si Thammarat on the mainland; a marina for Samui 'has been discussed for more than a decade'. Neither the Pilot's Bangrak page nor the Island Spirit charter guide (2023) names a slipway, travel lift or boatyard on Samui. The only slipway mapped on Samui in OpenStreetMap is a sand beach ramp at Choeng Mon (see 'Choeng Mon Beach Slipway'), fit only for dinghies and small craft. Options: (1) in-water repairs with Nathon workshops and freelance mechanics (see 'Nathon Workshops and Hardware (Samui repairs)'); (2) order parts from the Phuket chandleries, which ship around Thailand (see 'East Marine Asia Chandlery, Boat Lagoon' in the Phuket area); (3) haul out at Phuket (see 'Boat Lagoon Boatyard and Chandleries') or the Andaman yards in Krabi (see 'Port Takola Boatyard, Chandlery and Engineers'). Carry essential spares, filters, impellers and belts aboard before you come to the Gulf.
