Petcharat Marina (Bophut/Bangrak)

9° 33.6′ N · 100° 3.4′ E

Samui has no real marina: Petcharat (also spelled Pecharat or Phetcherat) is a single jetty to deep water in the middle of the cluster of wooden and steel jetties along Bangrak Bay, with a speedboat operation ashore. Southeast Asia Pilot calls it the best organised option, with all-tide access, and it is listed as Dream Yacht Charter's Samui base.

Practical

Position is OSM's 'Phetcherat Marine Pier' (way 35554764) on the Bangrak shore, about 500 m west of Big Buddha Pier. Noonsite (docking section, last updated May 2019): 'Pecharat Marina (a misnomer, as it is only a jetty)'; the owner, Khun Daeng, can help with diesel and water, but you must arrange in advance to use the jetty for fuel or water. There are no berths, shore power or marina office in the usual sense; visiting yachts anchor off in Bangrak Bay (5-6 m, good holding in mud per Noonsite) and come in by dinghy. Opposite the jetty, the Bangrak Minimart has a wide range of beer, wine and spirits, cheaper than Chaweng (Noonsite). The Bangrak fresh market is just east of the Seatran ferry jetty. Stay clear of the large concrete Seatran ferry jetty at the eastern end of the bay. Haul-out and repairs: neither Noonsite nor Southeast Asia Pilot lists a slipway, travel lift or boatyard on Samui; the Pilot says technical support is limited, with workshops and hardware stores in Nathon, Surat Thani, Chumphon and Nakhon Si Thammarat. No published fees: verify locally.
