Bophut Anchorage

9° 33.5′ N · 100° 3.1′ E

The shallow bay off Bophut's Fisherman's Village, with old Chinese wooden shophouses turned into restaurants and bars a dinghy ride away.

Practical

Southeast Asia Pilot position 9°33.498'N 100°03.058'E. Anchor on sand in 2-4 m; the shelf stays about 4 m deep up to a mile offshore, so deeper boats lie well out. Good shelter from swell and wind in either monsoon (Pilot). Approaching from the northwest, keep clear of the reef at the western end; from the east, the Koh Som passage carries 4 m. Several wooden and concrete tour-company jetties in the east of the bay can arrange fuel and water. Dive boats leave from the Bophut pier. Pubs the Pilot recommends: The Billabong and Frog and Gecko.
