Maya Bay (Phi Phi Le)

7° 40.7′ N · 98° 45.9′ E

The cliff-ringed cove with a beach of about 200 m made famous by The Beach. It was closed from 2018 to 2022 to let the coral recover and is now visited on strict terms.

Practical

Coordinates from Wikipedia. Swimming is banned; Tisland Travel reports wading ankle-deep only, a cap of around 4,000 visitors a day and about an hour per visit. Boats may not enter the bay: visitors land at Loh Samah on the back of the island and walk to the beach over a floating pier and boardwalk. The beach is closed to landings from yachts (Pilot). Closed every year from August 1 to September 30; reopened October 1, 2026. The park fee applies.
