Koh Tae Nai and Ao Nai Wok

9° 42.5′ N · 99° 58.4′ E

A wild little island just off Thong Sala, with a long white sandbar in Ao Nai Wok behind it. Wikivoyage calls it one of the best areas on Phangan for sailing, windsurfing and kayaking because the wind reaches it all year.

Practical

Island position from Wikidata (Ko Tae Nai). The Thong Sala anchorage lies just east of it, so this is a dinghy or kayak outing from that anchorage: Wikivoyage puts Koh Tae Nai about 10 minutes' paddle from Ao Nai Wok, and Koh Tae Nok further out to the west. Ao Nai Wok is the first bay north of Thong Sala, a 7–10 minute walk from the main pier. A small sailing school there (Sl2k Adventure, inside Baan Manali Resort) offered windsurfers, SUPs, kayaks and Hobie 16s, but Wikivoyage flagged its website as dead in October 2026, so check it is still operating. The west coast has very little water over the flats at low tide in summer.

Best for

Kayak or SUP from the Thong Sala anchorage
