Koh Surin Tai South Anchorage

9° 22.9′ N · 97° 52.1′ E

A bay on the south side of Surin Tai that gives good shelter in heavy northeasterlies, close to the Turtle Ridge and Tao Bay snorkelling.

Practical

Southeast Asia Pilot position 09°22.852N, 97°52.112E. Anchor in 10–15 m and approach the shore very carefully. Hazard: south of Surin Tai, between two rocks, a dangerous standing wave can form when a westerly ground swell meets a NE wind, so keep well clear in those conditions. Ko Khai (Torinla) lies about a mile southwest.

Best for

Shelter in strong NE winds

Season
