Koh Roi & Koh Kudu Anchorage

8° 11.5′ N · 98° 36.6′ E

A small southwest-facing bay at Koh Roi, with a rocky islet off its north side, two beaches and a large, beautiful hong you can walk into from the beach.

Practical

Koh Roi anchorage: Southeast Asia Pilot waypoint 08°11.540N 98°36.639E, about 19 nm from Yacht Haven. Deep until close inshore; anchor in 8–12 m, mud with some rock. Excellent in the NE monsoon and reasonable in the SW. Water is shallow several hundred metres to the west, so approach close to the island. A rock off the southern point is a danger to deep-draft boats. From the north or west of Phang Nga Bay, avoid Hin Mot Daeng, a shallow patch with a drying rock and beacon across the direct route. This is the limit of VHF contact with Phuket before Koh Yao Noi blocks the signal. No moorings, according to The Moorings' charter notes. Inside Ao Phang Nga National Park; fees apply.

Best for

Quiet NE-season night with a walk-in hong
