Koh Phaluai Village
9° 31.7′ N · 99° 41.1′ E
Ko Phaluai, the largest island in Ang Thong at 19 km², is home to about 500 people in a fishing community often described as sea gypsies, around the village of Ban Ao Sam. Its peak, at 396 m, is the park's highest point.
Practical
Wikipedia position for the island (not the village itself). OSM maps the fisherman's village at 9.52786, 99.66848 (node 4424581889). Thai Wikipedia: about 438 people in 102 households, mostly fishing, swiftlet-nest collecting, rubber, coconut and fruit growing, with homestays, camping and one resort (Angthong Beach Resort, 10 rooms per OSM). There is one restaurant, Paluay Seafood (see 'Phalauy Seafood Restaurant (Koh Phaluai)'). No fuel, chandlery or water point for yachts is published; the island's traditional water source is the stream through Sam Bo Cave. A village ferry links the island with Don Sak on the mainland on even-numbered dates. Respect the community and ask before photographing people.
