Koh Phaluai Anchorage
9° 32.2′ N · 99° 42.6′ E · approximate
An overnight stop off Koh Phaluai, the largest island of the Ang Thong group and the only one with a village, quieter than the HQ anchorage once the tour boats leave.
Practical
The Island Spirit / charter-yacht.com Samui cruising guide (2023) warns that Koh Phaluai's entire east coast is given over to bird's-nest collection and no anchoring is allowed there, and that the west coast's three shallow bays with dredged channels lead to fishing villages it advises leaving alone. Use the north-coast Pinnacle Beach anchorage instead (see 'Pinnacle Beach Anchorage, Koh Phaluai'). This coordinate is a general position off the island, derived from the OSM island outline (centre 9.5302, 99.6849), kept for reference only; no cruising guide gives a surveyed position here. A 2025-2026 charter itinerary anchors overnight near Ko Phaluai. Several islets (Koh Kluai and others) lie off the east and southeast shores.
