Koh Libong West Coast Anchorage
7° 15.0′ N · 99° 21.6′ E · approximate
A quiet island with a small Muslim fishing community, ringed by seagrass where Thailand's biggest herd of dugongs grazes. Its west coast has a few small beach resorts.
Practical
Southeast Asia Pilot: good anchorage along the whole west coast of Koh Talibong; beware of the reef at the island's southern end. Shallow water extends a long way off. Ashore are a few small resorts on the west-coast beaches (Wikipedia). The island is a non-hunting area (447 km²) with a community preservation zone where fishing and navigation are limited to protect dugongs, so go slowly and keep a lookout. Longtails run 30 minutes to Hat Yao Ban Chao Mai pier on the mainland. Position approximate and checked against the OpenStreetMap coastline (2026): at latitude 7.25 the west shore (Hat Thung Ya Kha) is at about 99.370 E, so 7.25, 99.36 sits roughly 1 km offshore in the water, not on the beach. The Pilot gives no waypoint; shoal water extends well off, so approach slowly and sound in. Resort restaurants ashore are at Ban Lang Khao about 3 km south (see Ban Lang Khao Beach Restaurants).
