Koh Khai Nui Day Moorings

7° 53.8′ N · 98° 30.7′ E

The smallest Khai island, with no beach and no facilities, just the best reef of the three: clownfish in anemones, reef fish and small blacktip reef sharks cruising the shallows. You snorkel straight off the boat.

Practical

Moorings available; otherwise anchor off the reef on either side in 15-20 m depending on conditions (SEAP). The current can be strong; tour boats skip it when the sea is rough (Phuket 101). A stilted restaurant here is derelict. Koh Khai island charges per SEAP (date not stated, verify locally): 200 THB per boat, 40 THB per non-Thai visitor, and 150 THB per couple for deck chairs whether used or not; Phuket 101 (2026) says chairs on Khai Nok are 150 THB for two or free if you order food. Feeding fish is illegal and visitors have been arrested for it.
