Koh Khai Nai Anchorage

7° 54.6′ N · 98° 33.0′ E

The largest Khai island, with almost 500 m of white sand, beach restaurants and bars, and a colony of about 80 cats that gives it its local name, Cat Island. It is a popular speedboat stop with gentle water for swimming.

Practical

Daytime anchorage in 8-10 m off the sandy NE point; best snorkelling and diving on the seaward edge of the fringing reef on the NE side; all-tide beach at that end (SEAP). The SEAP waypoint sits right off the point, so set the anchor on sand clear of the reef. For a night stop in the NE monsoon, move to the west coast of Koh Yao Yai. Jet skis operate off the beach (Phuket 101).

Best for

A family swim-and-lunch stop in Phang Nga Bay

Season

Daytime; NE-monsoon nights off Koh Yao Yai
