Koh Bon and Koh Tachai Day-Use Mooring Rules
8° 49.5′ N · 97° 47.8′ E · approximate
Koh Bon (#10) and Koh Tachai (#11) are daytime stops. Both are worked from orange national-park moorings, and you return to Koh Similan (#8) or Koh Miang (#4) for the night.
Practical
Approx: shown at the Koh Bon moorings off the southwest side (no buoy positions are published). Koh Bon: the water is too deep to anchor, so use the orange park moorings. If you get one, let another vessel tie to your stern (Southeast Asia Pilot). Tisland Travel (October 2026) lists Koh Bon as day visits only. Koh Tachai: use the large orange government moorings outside the reef edge at the south and north ends of the beach, or anchor only on sand in 10–15 m north of the east point. Never anchor on coral. The island itself is closed to landing. The pilot calls Tachai far too exposed for an overnight stop. Overnight: since 2018 the park has banned overnight stays ashore, and the Koh Miang campsite and bungalows stay closed (Tisland Travel, 2026). Boats spending the night in park waters should use the protected northwest bay at Koh Similan (#8), where the government moorings lie in 8–12 m (Southeast Asia Pilot). Dive boats reclaim these moorings in the late afternoon. Day-visitor hours are about 8am to 4pm. Fees: 500 THB per foreign adult per day by e-ticket. The pilot also lists 400 THB per vessel and 400 THB per scuba diver per day, with no year given (verify locally). No fishing, trolling or spearfishing within 5 nm of the islands; rangers patrol, and fines and jail terms apply.
