Dive· Koh Ba Ngu (#9)· Thailand
North Point (Koh Ba Ngu)
8° 41.0′ N · 97° 38.9′ E · approximate
The northernmost site in the main Similan chain (also called Rocky Point or Three Trees): submerged boulders with swim-throughs around 20 m, a shallow staghorn garden where turtles feed, and a deep pinnacle covered in sea fans 300 m to the northwest.
Practical
Approx: placed at the north tip of Koh Ba Ngu from the Wikivoyage island position. Depth 10–35 m; current moderate to strong; intermediate. The outer pinnacle tops out at about 30 m and drops to 40–45 m, beyond recreational limits, with no shelter between it and the island, so watch the current on the way back (Khao Lak Scuba Adventures). Leopard sharks rest on the sand. Three Trees, a gentler slope on the north side of #9 from 4 m to 30 m, is dived from the same area.
Best for
Turtles in the shallows and a deep sea-fan pinnacle
