Beach· Koh Similan (#8)· Thailand

Donald Duck Bay (Ao Kuerk)

8° 39.9′ N · 97° 38.9′ E

Ao Kuerk, the horseshoe of powder-white sand on Koh Similan's northwest corner, named for the duck-headed granite boulder above its north end. It is the postcard shot of the Similans and the park's main landing beach.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM-mapped beach (Ao Kueak Beach). Land by dinghy at the beach; day-trip speedboats crowd it from late morning to mid-afternoon, so early morning and late afternoon are quietest. Snorkelling is good among the rocks on the north side of the bay. The park ticket office is mapped just inland at the north end. Visitor hours for day-trippers are 8am to 4pm (Thai National Parks, 2026 page). No single-use plastic is allowed in the park (Wikivoyage). Shallow dive site in the bay itself: 5–20 m, mild current, also used for night dives (Khao Lak Explorer).

Best for

Beach time, snorkelling and the walk up to Sail Rock
