8° 1.7′ N · 98° 21.9′ E

The last big block of lowland rainforest on Phuket, a protected no-hunting area of more than 20 sq km in the hilly north-east of the island, with the Ton Sai and Bang Pae waterfalls, forest walks and the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project.

Practical

Coordinate is Ton Sai Waterfall (OSM), on the western side of the forest; Bang Pae Waterfall and the gibbon project are on the eastern side (8.0382 N, 98.3904 E). Wikipedia gives the reserve as over 20 sq km with peaks of 384 m (Khao Prathiu), 388 m (Khao Bang Pae) and 422 m (Khao Phara). Phuket 101 says entry is a national-park fee: 200 THB for foreigners and 20 THB for Thais (verify locally). Go early in the morning for cooler walking.
