Hin Bida (Phi Phi Shark Point)

7° 37.1′ N · 98° 48.2′ E · approximate

A rock that breaks the surface at low tide, ringed by boulders, staghorn coral and sand, and the most reliable place around Phi Phi to see leopard sharks resting on the bottom.

Practical

Position approx: derived from the Southeast Asia Pilot's description 'approximately three miles southeast of Koh Bida' (3 nm on 135° from the OSM Koh Bida Nok position). It is also a navigational hazard: give it a wide berth approaching Phi Phi from the south. Depth to about 18-22 m (Sunrise Divers; Scuba Diver Life gives 15-20 m); soft corals on the south end; large rays sometimes. Go with a dive boat that knows the site.
