Dive· Koh Payu (#7)· Thailand
Deep Six
8° 35.9′ N · 97° 38.2′ E
A classic Similan boulder site off the north tip of Koh Payu: an underwater extension of the island with a central swim-through between 22 m and 12 m, and sheer walls of soft coral.
Practical
Coordinate is the OSM-mapped point named Deep Six. Island numbers here follow the dive-operator convention (Koh Payu = #7); the Wikipedia/DNP list calls Koh Payu #6 and Koh Hin Pousar #7. Depth 4–40 m; current moderate to strong, especially at the pointed end of the reef, running southeast to northwest and back, so intermediate to advanced divers only (Khao Lak Scuba Adventures). Whitetip reef sharks, Kuhl's stingrays on the sand, giant trevally, tuna and schools of fusiliers.
Best for
Swim-throughs with a chance of reef sharks
Season
