Ao Talo Lae Lae Anchorage (Koh Adang East)

6° 33.5′ N · 99° 19.3′ E · approximate

A bay on Koh Adang's lightly visited east coast, north of the Urak Lawoi bay at Ao Ta Lo Po Ya, with jungle running down to the beach and Koh Sai and Koh Talu offshore.

Practical

Position: the OpenStreetMap label for Ao Talo Lae Lae (in the water, about 300 m off the shore). No cruising guide gives depths or holding here; sound in and anchor only on sand, staying well off the reef edge. The east coast is a lee in westerly and south-westerly winds but open to the NE monsoon; the Southeast Asia Pilot names Adang's west coast as the group's shelter in strong north-easterlies. The Pilot describes the gypsy village lagoon on this side as reachable by dinghy from the Lipe anchorages at mid to high tide. Park fee and the Adang–Rawi seasonal closure apply (see those entries).

Best for

Westerly-wind day anchorage on Adang's quiet side

Season

Lee in W–SW winds while the park is open; avoid in NE monsoon
