Ao Lang Ya Bays Anchorage (Koh Adang North)

6° 34.2′ N · 99° 17.8′ E · approximate

Two small white-sand bays on Koh Adang's north coast, Lang Ya Yai and Lang Ya Noi, facing the gap to Koh Lanja and well away from the Lipe day-boat crowds.

Practical

No cruising guide we found gives depths or holding for Adang's north coast, so treat this as an unsurveyed lunch stop: approach in good light, sound in and drop only on sand, or use a park mooring if one is laid. Position approximate: about 400 m off the OpenStreetMap beach outlines of Lang Ya Yai Beach (6.56757, 99.29238) and Ao Lang Ya Noi Beach (6.56532, 99.29761), checked against the OSM coastline to be in the water. The bays face north, so they are open to the NE monsoon and to the strong tidal stream that dive-the-world describes off Adang's north point (best at slack water). Wikivoyage (Ko Lipe) lists a coral garden between Koh Lanja and Adang, just west. No facilities ashore; the park restaurant and water are at Laem Son on the south coast. Park fee and the Adang–Rawi seasonal closure apply (see those entries).

Best for

Settled-weather lunch stop and snorkel off Adang's quiet north side

Season

Light-wind days or southerly winds while the park is open (Oct–May); open to NE swell
