Koh Adang West Moorings

6° 32.6′ N · 99° 16.5′ E

A line of more than 15 national-park moorings strung along Koh Adang's jungle-backed west coast, outside the reef in water over 12 m — the best anchorage in the Butang group in a strong north-easter.

Practical

Southeast Asia Pilot (6°32.600N 99°16.550E): upwards of 15 park moorings along the west coast, outside the reefs in more than 12 m; anchoring allowed in 10 m on the sandy shelf off the small village near the southern end. Pick up a mooring wherever one is free — park rules make moorings mandatory where laid and anchoring on reef is penalised. Quieter spots lie among the beaches and reefs, away from longtail and speedboat traffic. No mobile coverage. Park fee applies (see Mu Ko Tarutao National Park Fee). Closed to visitors in the SW-monsoon closure (see Adang–Rawi Seasonal Closure).
