Koh Hin Ngam (Stone Island)

6° 30.8′ N · 99° 15.7′ E

An islet with no sand at all: its whole shore is a beach of smooth, glossy, near-identical black and grey stones, said to be cursed by the guardian spirit of Tarutao for anyone who takes one away.

Practical

Thai Wikipedia: southwest of Koh Adang, about 20 minutes by longtail from Lipe; the stones are believed cursed by Chao Pho Tarutao, and removing them is forbidden. Visitors traditionally stack 13 stones into a wishing tower. Shallow coral (boulder, brain, table and staghorn) at the southern tip; OpenStreetMap marks a snorkel spot just off the island (6.51404, 99.26305). Day stop only: anchor or pick up a mooring nearby in settled weather, and land by dinghy. Busy with longtails from late morning.
