Koh Lipe North Anchorage (Sunset Beach)
6° 29.6′ N · 99° 17.8′ E
The Southeast Asia Pilot's preferred Koh Lipe anchorage (its anchorage C): clear sand off the north-west shore between Sunset Beach and the Lipe–Adang channel, with water so clear you can pick your patch between the coral heads by eye.
Practical
Southeast Asia Pilot (anchorage C, 6°29.559N 99°17.838E): anchor in 7-10 m on sand; the clear water makes coral easy to see, so drop well clear of it (anchoring on coral is illegal in the park). Beaches here are reachable at all tides; at low water land beside the beach bar where the longtails park. Motorbike-sidecar taxis pick up from a short rocky path, or walk about 10 minutes to town. Good mobile coverage. Best in the NE monsoon; open to the north and west. Strong tidal current runs in the Lipe–Adang channel to the north (Wikivoyage warns against swimming across). Koh Lipe sits inside Mu Ko Tarutao National Marine Park: foreign visitors pay the park fee (200 THB adult per Wikivoyage and thainationalparks.com, June 2026; verify locally).
