Victoria Inner Harbour Yacht Anchorage (Yacht Club basin)

4° 37.5′ S · 55° 27.6′ E

The small yacht basin at the head of Victoria's inner harbour, below the Seychelles Yacht Club veranda: the most convenient spot for errands, provisioning and boat work in the capital.

Practical

Noonsite position 04°37.51'S 55°27.62'E (yacht club anchorage). Well protected but noisy from the boatyards, and water quality is poor. Holding is poor where the bottom was dredged to build the reclaimed islands; boats drag in strong SE winds. Cruisers found adequate holding just east of Hodoul Island (04°37.6'S 55°27.4'E) in about 9-10 m; shallower is hard rock (hackingfamily.com, 2009). Inner-harbour moorings belong to club members. Boats anchored close to shore have been burgled: police advise locking up at night and lifting and locking the dinghy (Noonsite). Diesel from the fishing wall on the right as you come in (jerry cans avoid the surcharge); water tap by the small boat ramp. Grey herons nest on Hodoul Island and cattle egrets roost in the mangroves at dusk.
