Goëlettes Island Sooty Tern Colony (Farquhar)
10° 13.0′ S · 51° 8.0′ E
Farquhar's southernmost island holds a seasonal colony of about 200,000-400,000 pairs of sooty terns and about 10,000 pairs of brown noddies, plus roseate and black-naped terns at their most southerly Seychelles breeding site.
Practical
ICS has proposed Goëlettes as a Strict Nature Reserve. Hard to identify from more than 4 nm, and the fringing reef runs nearly 5 nm WSW from it (Pub. 171). Do not land in the breeding season. Coordinate from the Pub. 171 position (10°13'S, 51°08'E), so precise to about 1 nm only.
Best for
One of the biggest seabird colonies in Seychelles
