Cerf Island North Anchorage (Ste Anne Marine Park)

4° 37.7′ S · 55° 30.0′ E · approximate

The water off Cerf's north shore, facing Ste Anne and Round Island, where yachts in the marine park drop the hook or pick up a park buoy for a lunch stop or a night within dinghy range of Cerf's beach restaurants.

Practical

Approximate: placed about 230 m off Cerf's north beaches (OpenStreetMap island and beach outlines); no published waypoint or buoy positions, so pilot in good light and sound in. SPGA rules: anchor or moor only in designated areas so as not to damage the reef; SCR 200 per person per day (non-residents 12 and over) plus SCR 250 per yacht for an overnight mooring; rangers collect by card (SPGA, 2026). The Moorings eGuide says anchoring is permitted in the park. The reef around Cerf sits in shallow water and coral is better inside the clearly marked protected zones than in former anchoring areas (koek.sc): drop only on sand, never on coral or seagrass. Currents around Cerf can be stronger than elsewhere in the park (moyenneisland.com) and the channel builds a short steep chop in the wrong wind (koek.sc). Land the dinghy on the beach; Cerf has three restaurants including the Kapok Tree, and Cerf Island Resort and L'Habitation. No fishing gear aboard in the park.

Best for

Lunch ashore on Cerf or a quiet night 2 nm from Eden Island

Season

Most comfortable in the SE trades (May-Oct) in Cerf's lee; check swell in the NW monsoon
